Know the difference between cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing

Cleaning removes germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces or objects. Cleaning works by using soap (or detergent) and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.

Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects. Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection and diseases.

Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level, as judged by public health standards or requirements. This process works by either cleaning or disinfecting surfaces or objects to lower the risk of spreading infection and disease.

Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that are touched often, or that people are in contact with

Follow standard procedures for routine cleaning and disinfecting. Typically, this means daily sanitizing surfaces and objects that are touched often, such as taxi’s, vehicles, desks, countertops, doorknobs, computer keyboards, hands-on learning items, faucet handles, phones, shopping trolleys, lifts and hand railings. This will require 24/7 daily disinfecting these items in public areas like taxi ranks, buildings, schools and shopping centres. High alert procedures often call for disinfecting specific areas like school, public bathrooms and more.

Routine cleaning and disinfecting

It is important to match your cleaning and disinfecting activities to the types of germs you want to remove or kill. Most studies have shown that the flu virus can live and potentially infect a person for up to 48 hours after being deposited on a surface. However, it is not necessary to close buildings to clean or disinfect every surface in the building to slow the spread of flu. Also, its necessary to do extra cleaning and disinfecting when buildings are not occupied.

Flu viruses are relatively fragile, so standard cleaning and disinfecting practices are sufficient to remove or kill them. Special cleaning and disinfecting processes, including wiping down walls and ceilings and disinfectant fogging are good practice to destroy these viruses.

Other countries like China and Italy have proven success by applying disinfectant trough the use of fogging machines to cover vast areas.

Cleaning and disinfect correctly

Disinfection usually requires the product to remain on the surface for a certain period of time (e.g., letting it stand for 3 to 5 minutes). The product leaves no residue on any surface. The building area that has been fogged is available to be used within.

Mobile and fixed hand washing stations

Its important for the public to realise that regular handwashing is just as important as sanitizing. Therefore, our mobile hands- free hand washing stations can be deployed in taxi ranks , offices , building entrances , malls , food outlets etc. where the public can regularly wash their hands. The mobile handwashing stations contains a mixture of water and medical grade disinfectant soap.

The dispensing of the water and disinfectant soap are pumped via a foot pedal to the basin , this is to ensure that no one touches the tap whilst washing their hands and further spreading the virus. The mobile water stations are easy to deploy to any location where needed.

Our fixed 4 way / person handwashing stations are complete with 4 x 5L Liquid Anti- bacterial soap dispensers fitted with a self- closing and self – cleaning tip tap valve which can be operated with the back of the hand.

The tank is a 2700L water tank with 4 x water outlets , each one more than 1 meter apart , fitted with a self- closing and self- cleaning TIP TAP valve to dispense water without touching the valve with your open hand.

Our operational teams are trained to deploy these units rapidly over a short space of time.
